堀尾珈琲焙煎所
Statement Logo design for Horio Coffee Roastery. For this project, dark roast coffee was interpreted not as a reaction against current trends, but as a quiet return to the history of Japanese coffee culture. Rather than aiming for visual impact or immediacy, the identity was designed to feel grounded, enduring, and gradually deepened over time. The typography is based on the stable visual structures found in mid-Showa era coffee culture. To reflect the irreversible process of roasting, I burned wood, scanned the marks, and layered those traces into the letterforms. Through this process, the logo incorporates a sense of time, texture, and accumulated presence. More than a simple symbol, the logo was created as a structure that embodies the brand’s core values: return, accumulation, and continuity.
